Data Management Systems and Tools
The volume and diversity of scientific data and information collected during ocean exploration activities is extensive, and presents a unique data management challenge.
Integrated Product Team for Ocean Exploration Data Management
The 2000 Report of the President's Panel on Ocean Exploration (2001, .pdf, 2.54 MB) recommended "end-to-end" data management to facilitate data sharing across a broad, multidisciplinary community. To meet this challenge, the Ocean Exploration staff joined with NOAA's Data Centers and other partners to form an Integrated Product Team (IPT) for Ocean Exploration Data Management. This team manages the scientific data and information from collection through archive, ensuring broad accessibility. This page provides information about some of the systems and tools developed to manage exploration data and information.
